The Paper Mill
I was told by my mom, and now I will retell it.Long ago, there was a paper mill in Prattville, Alabama. One young boy named Oscar worked there. He was what kept his mother and him eating, because his father had died. One day in the winter, his mother gave him his lunch pale and told him, "Oscar, you go and get us some money. Do you understand?" Oscar said, "Yes ma'am." And he ran off to the paper mill.
After working half through the day the lunch bell called. And all the kids and adults went outside to eat. One of the children noticed that the pond was frozen, and they should ask the man in the basement for some ice skates. Well Oscar ran to the elevator shaft and called down to the man, "Hey man! Can we have some ice-" Silence for a while, and then a splat. The man in the basement walked to the elevator shaft, looked up, saw no one, and then looked down.
He saw Oscar's body on the ground. Oscar had fallen to his death.
A few years later, workers started seeing a woman in a black dress lurk around the mill. They didn't bother her, and she didn't bother them. Some people would follow her around, one worker asked her why she walked, but she didn't answer. So people left her to lurk. Well, about 20 years later, they still saw he lurk. She should have been dead from old age! Whenever she came near a worker, they would report feeling shivers going down their spines and became very cold.
One worker said that she was the mother of Oscar, looking for the child she had lost from the fall. 20 more years later, the mill burned down. No one saw the ghost for a while, until when she started showing up in my mother's shop. My mother just let her roam around the shop. After a while my mother couldn't take it anymore. She sold the shop and Years later I was born.
