A haunted and lost world

The feline leader turned and bowed as well before the dragon. "Welcome my friend. It is an honor to hosta Shadow dragon in our village."

"Not in the slightest." She replied back.

"Whatever do you mean?" He asked.

"I see that shadows ae controlling the land so you have every right to be suspicious of me."

"Not in the slightest" He said waving dismissively at the idea. "They've most likely told you your brother is alive, correct?"

A glazed look crossed her eyes and she nodded.
"What?!" Melanie snarled.

"Well you may feel relieved to know they are nisinformed and fooled" He said smiling.

"I am terribly confused..." Melanie muttered.
"Whats this now?" Nyy said.

The fline smiled "I have the ability to seperate my spirit from my body. I normally do this to spy on Reaver. I can confirm that he is disguising himslef as your brother to gain control over those shadows you met earlier. Not that he needs to. Though I must say it's remarkable he can hold a solid form long enough to fool them." He stroked his chin as he spoke.

"So my brother isnt here." Nyy sighed in relief

"Yes." He said. "Now I'm sure you wish to know about Reaver, correct?"

She tried to outdistance the thing, but a red beam seared her tail fur. She yelped and kept running toward the mountain.

The centipede sank into the ground and disappeared along with the shadows. Allowing her to run.

"Indeed I do." She replied.

"Well to start Reaver is not the man now that he was so long ago..."

"What happened?" The three of them chimed.

"He became a shadow." He said waiting for there response.

Dander slunk into the shade of some dying trees scattered near the side of the mountain, having lost the creature.

Alice tapped the back of Dander's leg.

"How did he become a shadow?" Melanie asked and Nyy shifted a little, remembering about what had happened to her kind.

"Reaver made a deal with the leaders of the Shadow court. In exchange for immortality he sacrificed someone every week. Eventually he sacrificed his entire village, along with his wife and children. However, the court soon grew tired of his sacrifices and took him instead turning him into a Shadow..." He paused before he continued.

Nyy shuddered while Melanie and Jade pressed their ears to their heads.

Dander turned quickly and saw a tiny manticore looking at her. "Who are you and where am I?" she said, still breathing hard.

"My name is Alice. And you are in stone-edge mountain." She said smiling.

The leader nodded. "Now unlike most Shadows Reaver can't hold a physical form but must possess one instead. He's made one using mismatched peices fo armaor he's found."

"Horrible." Nyy muttered.
